You are asking good questions. I'...Hi, Jolene!

You are asking good questions. I'd love to have you in the Facebook group The Bible and Anthropology where we discuss these matters in greater detail.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/970693143031228

In Genesis 11, we read that Abraham's father was Terah (a title that means "priest") and his grandfather was Na'Hor (also a title, meaning "one devoted to Hor/Horus"). The marriage and ascendancy pattern of Abraham's Horite Hebrew people involves two wives and only the first-born son of the principal wife is the ruler's heir. That is why Issac was Abraham's heir. He was born to Sarah, Abraham's first wife. Abraham's second wife was a cousin named Keturah. Her first-born son became an high official in the territory of his maternal grandfather. That is what would have happened with Haran, had he not died in Ur.

Nahor the Younger was Abraham's older brother and he inherited their father's territory when Terah died. That means Na'hor was the first-born son of Terah's first (principal) wife. She would have been Terah's half-sister. Terah's other wife would have been a cousin. The cousin bride named her first-born son after her father. Her father appears to have been Haran, or the chief of Haran (a shrine city in southern Turkey.) In Genesis 20:12, Abraham explains that he and Sarah have the same father but different mothers. Abraham's first wife was his half-sister, Sarah, and her brother was Haran.

I will add a diagram to this article to make this easier to picture.
Alice C. Sorry maybe i should rephrase my quest...Hi Alice,

Sorry maybe i should rephrase my question on my earlier comment. How do we know that Sarah is Haran’s sister of same father and same mother? Is there any old scripture where we can find that mention their relationship? Or other reliable reading material beside the bible? If its in the bible where was it mentioned?

Thanks for the hard work Alice, i really enjoy reading your blog.

God bless,

JoleneUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06709122984976086080noreply@blogger.com
