Holy Tradition: A Continuous Stream

“Tradition means giving votes to the most obscure of all classes, our ancestors. It is the democracy of the dead. Tradition refuses to submit to the small and arrogant oligarchy of those who merely happen to be walking about.” ― G.K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy

Road to Emmaus: A Journal of Orthodox Faith and Culture has published an interview with me in which I reflect on my years as an Episcopal "priest" and the events that brought me to Orthodoxy. The interview is titled "Stepping into the Stream" (Winter 2010, #40) and details how my Genesis research has been instrumental in helping me to understand Holy Tradition, the male priesthood, and the biblical worldview.

I loved the article, thanks! I thought you had some good points on the priesthood, but would like to hear more. Where do you recommend I go?

My wife Olga is one of Mother Nektaria's goddaughters. Our favorite part is where you mention that people who follow these radical beliefs are most likely suffering, and that love is the best way to heal. I forget that.

Greetings, Andrew and to your wife, Olga, also. How lovely to hear from you!

I spent 3 days with Mother Nektaria last year while she conducted the interview. I was so blessed by her presence and to provide her a humble meal in my humble home.

You may read more on the priesthood here:

You will find other related essays under "Priesthood" in the INDEX.

Thanks for visiting Just Genesis!

I am reading your article in "Road to Emmaus". I am thoroughly enjoying your calm and scholarly approach, two things I lack. I am also diving into this blog and loving it! Thank you for your work, please pray for me as I journey towards Eastern Orthodoxy. I just attended the Akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos last night and was reminded yet again how I have never seen women revered so much in any other faith tradition. I am falling in love with "The Orthodox Way".

Pray for my friend as well who is female and pursuing ordination as a pastor in our faith tradition (Christian Reformed). I am hoping she will start conversing with you and gain an appreciation for what you have to say and for Holy Tradition. Your empathetic yet unwavering voice could help her. I plan to share this blog and the Emmaus article with her.

I pray that God will bless your work. Pray for me a sinner.

I will pray as you ask. May God bless you and your friend.

Expect rich blessings and great challenge as you way this way.
